ONE STRANGE ROCK- Storm, Alien

Producer / Director. 2 x 48 min.

NUTOPIA for National Geographic

In an exciting collaboration with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, Nutopia, Will Smith and

NASA astronauts I’ve directed two episodes that reveals the story of Earth like you’ve never seen it before.

This is the biggest, and most high profile project I have ever done. Its taken 2 years

to write, produce, shoot and edit some of the most challenging stories on TV. Nothing

was too difficult for this entertaining and informative series that is due to have a

world-wide release.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG- The Body

Producer / Director. 1 x 60 min.

BBC Scotland for BBC1

This show gave real-world tips on how to keep the reaper at bay in older age. Hosted

by Angela Rippon and Dr Chris van Tulleken we traveled the world to investigate the

latest research that could put the breaks on the aging process.

CALCULATING ADA- Countess of Computing

Producer / Director. 1 x 60 min.

BBC Scotland for BBC4

In this film, Dr Hannah Fry tells the story of Ada's remarkable life. Born in the early

19th century Ada was a countess of the realm, a scandalous socialite and an

'enchantress of numbers'. The film is an enthralling tale of how a life infused with

brilliance, but blighted by illness and gambling addiction, helped give rise to the

modern era of computing.

HUMAN UNIVERSE- Are we Alone

Producer / Director. 1 x 60 min

A landmark BBC2/Discovery series with Prof Brian Cox.
Shot all over the world in many fantastic locations including the Arctic, under the Atlantic and in space

THE UNEXPLAINED FILES- Ep1&2

Producer / Director. 2 x 48 min.
A drama doc series that investigated strange events around the world that appear to deffy science.

SUPERSIZED EARTH- A Place to Live

Producer / Director. 1 x 60 min.
One of the BBC’s biggest series in 2012 this BAFTA nominated

program took almost 2 years to make.

Presented by Dallas Campbell the film explores how we’ve built the modern world and created a place for 7 billion people to live. The film needed to be both entertaining and informative for a primetime BBC1 audience.

The film combines high end photo-real CGI sequences with

extraordinary dramatic stories shot across the globe.

In my roll as PD I had to find, negotiate access and script

stories, before producing what were often extremely complex

foreign shoots. These included abseiling from the top of the

Burj Khalifa, the world’s highest building, and scuba diving in

the sewer system of Mexico City!

Careful advanced planning was always needed, including

detailed risk assessments and scheduling to a tight filming

window. However the ability to think on my feet and work well

with both crew and presenter helped me direct sequences with

extremely high production values and maintain a cinematic

style in even the most tricky of circumstances.

Awards:

BAFTA 2013: Nomination - Best Cinematography

Reviews:

The Guardian: It was a fine example of what might be termed

"Holy shit!" programming, in honour of the only sensible response

to a vertiginous tour of big stuff, daunting facts and unwieldy

numbers.

INSIDE THE HUMAN BODY- Creation

Producer / Director. 1 x 60 min.
Award winning landmark BBC1 series that takes the viewer on an

amazing journey around the human body.

BBC SCIENCE AND FACTUAL for BBC 1

Exec Producer- Andrew Cohen/ Helen Thomas

Series Producer- Simon Finch

Combining amazing CGI sequences with inspirational human stories my film told the

dramatic odyssey that we’ve all made from our conception to birth.

As producer director it was my job to find and film inspirational human stories that resonate with a domestic audience. I also wrote and directed complex CGI sequences that depict and explain the very latest in scientific understanding of human reproductive biology. The film was both informative and entertaining.

We were the first BBC documentary production to shoot exclusively on 4K RED. In doing so we managed to create a distinctive hyper real cinematic style to the film.

Working closely with Jellyfish pictures I produced 12 minutes of fantastic cgi that told dramatic stories in a very visual way. The episode went on to be nominated and win many prestigious awards.

Reviews:
Independent: “The birds and the bees have never been explained

like this before. Seen in this sort of detail human conception looks strangely beautiful as well as monumentally unlikely.”

The Times: “With the help of sophisticated imaging technology, it succeeds in being admirably clear and entertaining without talking down to the viewer. “

The Guardian: “Fascinating and brilliantly informative. The science is remarkable but the human angle even more so.”

Radio Times: ”I doubt you’ve ever seen the story of a baby’s development, from fertilisation to birth, told this well.”

Producer / Director. 1 x 60 min. Critically acclaimed documentary drama telling the story of the 1986 kidnap of Israeli Nuclear whistleblower, Mordechai Vanunu off the streets of London. Staring Nick Moran and Rene Zagger.

“dramatic reconstructions in the service of documentary content have rarely been as slick and engaging as in this miniseries on the culture of secrecy and espionage surrounding nuclear weapons... [Vanunu’s] journey from Israel to London and back again via Rome is a gripping tale, which is deftly reconstructed here... It feels relevant, topical and controversial, which makes this episode an even more successful short film than the previous ones. Excellent.” AS
